Freeborn County Fair - Livestock Exhibits

Livestock shows are major attractions at the Freeborn County Fair —bringing together local FFA’ers, 4-H'ers, families, and judges for a celebration of farming tradition and youth achievement. Livestock shows are important for several reasons, including building character and life skills in young people, promoting agricultural awareness, and fostering a sense of community.

United Way of Freeborn County

Did you know that the United Way of Freeborn County has already distributed over 70,000 pounds of food in 2025?

In addition to helping local residents facing food insecurity through the Welcome Pantry, the United Way works to create a thriving community where adults and children achieve their full potential with access to a solid education, good health, safe neighborhoods and jobs that pay a living wage. They do this by focusing on three core areas — Education, Financial Stability and Health of Freeborn County residents.

Freeborn County Humane Society

Since 2021, the Freeborn County Humane Society has placed nearly 800 animals in loving homes, typically caring for around 100 cats and 15 dogs at a time.

They are a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Southern Minnesota, operating entirely on donations and fundraisers. The organization began in 1976 as a volunteer group of animal lovers determined to make a difference in the lives of stray and unwanted pets in their community. Over the years, they have grown into more than just an animal rescue—they have become a vital resource for both animals and the pet families they serve. Their mission has evolved to reflect the changing needs of the community: "Our mission is to create an animal-friendly community with help and information to build strong pet families, find loving homes for animals, and reduce overpopulation."
